The Helena Dress
The Helena dress is handwoven by different artisants and is made out of 100% cotton Ikat. The term ‘Ikat’ originates from the Indonesian word ‘mengikat’ which means 'to bind'. The technique is applied in many other Asian countries, including India. This beautiful dress is co-created with the Saheli Women, a non profit clothing atelier in India and is available in different prints.
The Saheli Women only produces ethically and sustainably. The proof can be found not only in their garment, but also in the working conditions. Their process is very transparent. The women get paid a living wage, are able to create their own schedule and are working in a clean and safe environment.
Additionally, IPHD cares for the families of the Saheli Women. They sponsor the education of all daughters of the Saheli Women, run workshops about important topics such as financial literacy, human rights and feminism and run the only female health clinic in the village.
Every name has a story to tell
The Helena dress is inspired by a woman from Java, Indonesia, who at an early age gave rise to an impossible love story. Separated by war and time, her kindheartedness and devotion touched the soul of a man who thought of her until his very last moment.

The model is 170 cm and wears size XS/S. This dress is true to size. See our size chart.
Care
Our pieces are handwoven, made out of 100% cotton and are dyed with natural dye. We recommend washing it only if necessary. Wash by hand or in the washing machine on a cold temperature. Let air dry to make sure your dress stays beautiful.

Fairer Handel: Die Kleidung wird in Indien vom Sozialunternehmen Saheli Women hergestellt. Saheli Women ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation, die mit dem Ziel gegründet wurde, Frauen im ländlichen Rajasthan durch die Schaffung ethischer und nachhaltiger Mode finanziell zu stärken. Sie produzieren fair, nach integrativen Prinzipien und bieten den Frauen einen sicheren Gestaltungsraum, in dem sie ihre Arbeitszeiten und Urlaube frei bestimmen können.
Umweltfreundlich: Die Kleidung besteht zu 100 % aus pflanzlich gefärbter Baumwolle. Diese Baumwolle wird von Saheli Women bezogen und von ihnen selbst gefärbt. Saheli Women verwendet recycelte und upcycelte Materialien, Totbestände und Bio-Baumwolle (oft GOTS-zertifiziert). Sie arbeiten nur mit kleinen fairen Textilproduzenten in Indien zusammen.
Vegan: Die Kleidung ist vegan.
